Tamara Bertrand Jones

Tamara Bertrand Jones is an associate professor of higher education at Florida State University and the associate director of FSU’s Center for Postsecondary Success. She uses qualitative methods and critical and feminist theories to examine the sociocultural contexts that influence the educational and professional experiences of underrepresented populations, particularly Black women, in academia. Bertrand Jones’s previous work as a higher education administrator and program evaluator contributes to her research interests in culturally responsive assessment and evaluation.

Bertrand Jones is a founder and past president of Sisters of the Academy Institute, an international organization that promotes collaborative scholarship and networking among Black women in academia. Bertrand Jones earned a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin, a master’s in higher education from FSU, and a PhD in research and evaluation methods from FSU.
