Jenny Schanker
Jenny Schanker is the director of research and institutional practice at the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA). Schanker joined the MCCA in 2011 as the associate director of the Center for Student Success. Previously, she spent 20 years teaching developmental and college-level writing at universities and community colleges in Michigan and Illinois. She most recently taught at Lake Michigan College, where she also served as chair of the Department of Transitional Studies, project director for Achieving the Dream, chair of the student success steering council, and cochair of the student learning assessment committee.
Since joining MCCA, Schanker has led the center’s work on college readiness, developmental education, dual enrollment, and alignment of noncredit and credit career education. She currently leads the Michigan Guided Pathways Institute and the Right Math at the Right Time initiatives. Schanker is a scholar in the Higher Learning Commission’s Student Success and Assessment Academies. She holds an MA in English from DePaul University and earned her EdD in community college leadership from National Louis University.
