Rebecca Cox
Rebecca D. Cox is an associate professor of education at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley; an MA from the University of Texas at Austin; and an AB from Princeton University. Her research interests include issues of postsecondary access, opportunity, and equity with attention to teaching and learning, organizational and institutional contexts, and the enactment of educational reform.
Cox has reported results of her research on community colleges in publications including The College Fear Factor: How Students and Professors Misunderstand One Another (Harvard University Press); the Community College Review article “’You’ve got to learn the rules’: A classroom-level look at low pass rates in developmental math”; and the New Directions for Community Colleges article “Persistent pedagogical challenges in developmental education reform.” Cox also provided the subject-matter expert review for the external evaluation of Colorado Community Colleges’ developmental education redesign.
